After a experiencing a mission experience with Youth With a Mission as a teen, Allan was sold on the idea of working with YWAM. He returning home to Canada only to earn a few bucks and head straight back. Months turned into years and yet… no ticket!
Instead of mowing lawns Allan connected with the youth of his home-town working with the local church and a ministry called Youth Vision. After a move to a bigger town Allan’s vision grew as he partnered to form Ottawa Youth Alive (OYA), a city-wide ministry in Canada’s capital.
At the same time Allan launched a career in the high tech field which quickly led to an IT management position in a fast-growing software company. Client demand called for a jump into independent consulting. As those demands grew he met them by hiring others, starting the consulting firm Ascenta IT Solutions.
In 1992 Allan and Joane met working with Ottawa Youth Alive and they were married four years later.
Joane, who completed her YWAM DTS in Cambridge Ontario went on to college to study Public Relations. She soon after landed a contract with a small PR firm and then with the Canadian government. Her work involved project promotion, writing, event management and travel across Canada. Allan and Joane both held on to the dream of some day, again working in missions.
At the end of 1999, Allan sold his company which meant that He, Joane and their first daughter Zoe were now free to pursue their dream. They flew to Los Angles for a Ministry Development School and soon later packed their VW van to the roof for the trip to Colorado to join ranks with YWAM Strategic Frontiers.
In 2002 They moved to Chiang Mai Thailand where they currently work with YWAM Chiang Mai and direct the newly established - Compasio Relief & Development. Joane takes care of the kids full-time along with home schooling the two oldest.
Their heart and ministry is to serve needs in the area of women and children at risk.
