Dear Friends,
Due to the recent natural disaster in this region, many tourists have been hospitalized and/or are still in great need of medical help but have not yet made it to a medical facility. As you may already know, one of the worst-hit areas in Thailand is Phuket, one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. According to our co-workers in the area the injured are being taken to nearby Phang Nga for medical care, and there is a great need for translators to help the scores of tourists communicate their needs in Thai with the medical staff there. Since Al speaks English, French and Thai, he has volunteered to go help in any way possible. So within two hours of hearing about the need, he and two co-workers are currently on a plane to Bangkok! They should arrive there by 11 pm and will then fly out to Phuket (then bus to Phang Nga) tomorrow morning.
Please remember Al (and the rest of us at home in Chiang Mai) in your prayers this week, that the Lord would lead him in the midst of a chaotic situation. He expects to be back around January 2nd.
